Adoptable Pet Listings from RescueGroups.org

Some adoption listings on Petclassify are not posted by our users. We import them from the RescueGroups.org Adoptable Pet Data API so that animals looking for homes are visible here as well as on the rescue's own website. These listings are labelled For Adoption and identify the rescue organisation that published them.

For these listings we store:

• Details about the animal, such as its name, breed, age, sex, description and location
• Copies of the animal's photographs, saved to our own storage rather than linked from elsewhere, so that they keep working if the source changes
• The rescue organisation's publicly published contact details — its name, city and state, website, telephone number and email address — so that we can attribute the listing and send interested adopters to the right place

This information is a cache of data the rescue has already chosen to publish. We refresh it at least weekly. When an animal is adopted or withdrawn, it stops being listed as available here at the next refresh.

Tracking on imported listings. RescueGroups.org requires that each imported animal's page load its Pet Adoption Tracker, a small invisible image served from tracker.rescuegroups.org. Its purpose is to let RescueGroups count how often an animal has been seen and report that back to the rescue. Like any request your browser makes to another website, it can convey your IP address, your browser's user agent and the page you are viewing. It appears only on pages for animals imported from RescueGroups.org, and never on listings posted by our own users. If you block third-party images or use tracking protection, the listing itself is unaffected.

We do not send RescueGroups.org any information about you. We do not share your account details, messages, searches or saved listings with them, and creating an account or contacting a rescue through our site does not pass your personal data to them. When you follow a link to a rescue's own website to apply to adopt, you leave Petclassify and that organisation's privacy policy applies.

For rescue organisations. If your organisation would prefer its animals not to appear on Petclassify, email us at privacy@petclassify.com and we will remove your listings within one business day and stop importing them.

Data Security

The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Depending on your location, you may have the following data protection rights:

• The right to access, update, or delete the information we have on you
• The right of rectification - the right to have your information corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete
• The right to object to our processing of your personal data
